Volunteer Opportunities:

The St. Albans Watershed Association (SAAWA) is a group of hard-working, grassroots volunteers -- young and old -- who love the lake. There are many ways you can participate in our efforts for cleaner water. Currently we have the following needs for volunteers:

Weed Harvester Campaign

We are starting a fund-raising campaign to obtain an additional weed harvester for operation on the Bay. Volunteers are needed to organize the fund-raising efforts.

Help is always needed for the weed harvesting efforts during the summer. We will be needing volunteers with farm machinery experience to help transport weeds from the harvester offloading site to their composting destination.

Become a Board Member

Currently looking for Board members from shoreline districts as well as the community at large. Please contact Steve Cushing for more information. If you are interested in the activities of the Board, you are invited to attend the meetings which are held the 3rd Wednesday of the month remotely or at various locations at 5:30 p.m. Please email us for location or questions.

Area Coordinators

To improve communication between SAAWA members and keep the organization aware of local needs regarding the harvester (or anything else), we need volunteers to help connect neighbors in their district. Compiling mailing list information, getting the word out for meetings or events, gathering photos of shore conditions are areas that coordinators can help assist in, and will better organize the Association.

Communications & Newsletter

We can use help with research on various topics (legislative activity, environmental solutions, condition of the bay and would welcome anyone who would like to contribute an article to the newsletter. In addition, we need people to help with labeling and distribution of the newsletters once they are printed.

Grant Writers

If you love the lake, and have experience with grant writing, we need you! Please contact Steve Cushing for more information.

Restore the Bay 5K -- June 2022???

Volunteers are desperately needed as soon as possible to help organize the event, solicit sponsors and donations, and help the day of the event with registration, timing, you name it.
